Local agency helps with Obamacare sign-up as deadline approaches

CHARLOTTE — On Sunday a local agency will help people in Charlotte sign up for Obamacare as the Monday deadline approaches.

The White House says 6 million people have enrolled, which is just short of their goal of 7 million.

Those who have started the application by Monday will be given more time to complete the process.

Residents had the chance to get help signing up for health insurance on Saturday.

"You wouldn't drive your car without insurance so why would you walk around and not have insurance on yourself," said Mark Vanarnam, regional director for Enroll America. "So we're encouraging everybody to go ahead and get insurance prior to that deadline."

The Sunday sign-up event is taking place at Legal Services of Southern Piedmont on Elizabeth Avenue from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
