CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Some local kids were among the first to see the new Star Wars film thanks to the help of Goodwill.
The experience was made possible through the Starry Blockbuster Series that provides group outings to movies and sporting events.
The nonprofit chose four kids from underprivileged families for a special screening of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."
Before the movie, the kids had lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings in uptown, where some people were dressed as characters.
"I hope ... it sparks their imagination. That's the biggest thing,” said Larry Cornwell, owner of the Starry Blockbuster Series. “Sparks their imagination, and maybe moves them to becoming a scientist."
The kids also took home a Star Wars poster, donated by Lucasfilm.
