Local dog-walking startup to add a South End facility

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A local dog-walking startup is looking to bring a new experience to South End for pets and their owners.

Skipper plans to open a 24,000-square-foot space called Skiptown, which will include an off-leash indoor/outdoor dog park, a bar and a boarding center. The experience will be technology-enabled, meaning clients can book daycare appointments or order a beer using Skipper’s mobile app. Pick-up and drop-off services will also be available.

Meggie Williams, co-founder of Skipper, said this is a way to build on the dog-walking customer base and offer more to clients.

“Being able to optimize a physical space for the enjoyment of people and pets that are off leash is a very unique scenario, and we are really committed to doing it right,” she said.
