Local lawmaker proposes marijuana convictions expunged from record

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — A Mecklenburg County representative is pushing for anyone with a marijuana conviction to have their slate wiped clean.

Democratic Rep. Kelly Alexander Jr. proposed House Bill 994, which would allow anyone with a possession of marijuana conviction under four ounces to petition the court to have that conviction expunged from their record.

The bill would increase the amount of pot a person can legally have.
