Local vigils set to honor Conn. shooting victims Tuesday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The impact was felt world-wide when 20 children and six adults were killed in a mass shooting in Newtown, Conn., on Friday.

In the days following the shooting, the grief for the families and victims has been felt around the country.

As the families bury their loved ones this week, vigils have been set up around the Charlotte area to honor the victims.

There are three vigils planned in the area for Tuesday:

Shelby

Prayer vigil
6 p.m. Tuesday at the historic court square in uptown
Meet at the corner of Warren and Washington streets
Attendees are advised to bring a candle
