Long-term, valet parking rates jump at Charlotte Douglas Airport

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Starting Friday, it will cost travelers more to park at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Parking prices are going up for valet service as well as the long-term lots.

Long-term parking will now be $7 a day and valet parking will be raised to $35.

Short-term parking rates won’t be changing – it will still be free the first hour and $2 every hour after that.

Travelers haven't seen a price hike at the airport in two-and-a-half years. In 2014, parking rates were increased to help pay off the bonds that were used to finance parking improvements.

This time, the airport said prices are going up because of the high demand for parking.

Channel 9 crunched the numbers to compare Charlotte’s parking prices to other airports. When it comes to long-term parking, Charlotte Douglas is a dollar more than Raleigh but $7 cheaper than Atlanta.
