Maiden teen will spend at least 16 years in prison for sex acts with children

MAIDEN, N.C. — Authorities announced Friday that Jonathan Carson, of Maiden, will serve at least 16 years behind bars for sexual offenses involving two children.

Carson, 18, was sentenced to serve 16 to 24 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree sex offense and two counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Carson will also have to register as a sex offender for a period of 30 years.

Officials told Channel 9 that Carson performed a sexual act on a 4-year-old boy and inappropriately touched him in October 2016. He also engaged in a sexual act with a 6-year-old girl and inappropriately touched her between December 2015 and January 2016.

Both children described the encounters during forensic interviews Carson admitted to the crimes, Maiden police said.
