Mail carriers collect Channel 9 School Tools donations

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — People in several local counties had the chance to take part in Channel 9's School Tools Drive Saturday, without even leaving their homes.

Thanks to Channel 9's partnership with the U.S. Postal Service, folks in the Charlotte area left school supplies at their mailboxes and their letter carriers picked them up as they delivered the mail.

It was an easy way to help out students who many not have the necessary supplies as they head back to school.

The supplies collected Saturday will benefit students in the county where they were donated.

Channel 9's School Tools collection is in full swing, and we're inviting you to our studios for a special event. Our big School Tools collection day is Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Come by the WSOC-TV studios at 1901 North Tryon Street, and bring some school supplies to donate. Our anchors and reporters will be on hand to accept your donations.
