Mallard Creek Road closed due to hole

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Damage from the weekend rain has closed a major road in University City.

Barricades are up on Mallard Creek Road between Johnston-Oehler Road and Mallard Creek Church Road.

Part of the shoulder collapsed and there is a noticeable dip in the road.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation said Stony Creek washed out dirt under the pavement.

Crews expect to have the work done by 5 p.m. Monday.
