FORT MILL - Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Saturday morning in Fort Mill.
Sheriff’s deputies were sent to 872 Fort Mill Highway in Indian Land after receiving a report of a disturbance. While en route they were told someone had been shot.
Upon arrival, they found David Hammer, 21, of Fort Mill, dead in the driveway. Police say he appeared to have been shot one time.
The investigation so far has revealed several people, including Hammer, became involved in an altercation in the driveway. All parties present at the time of the incident have been located and are cooperating with police.
Sheriff Barry Faile released a statement saying, "It is unfortunate that a(n) incident like this ended in the death of a young person. Our deepest condolences to those involved and their families."
The incident remains under investigation.
