Man accused of hitting historic statue scheduled to be in court

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The man accused of knocking over a popular Myers Park statue in a hit-and-run wreck will be in court on Monday.

Cory Pierce was arrested last week. Police said he was driving with a revoked license at the time of the crash on Queens Road.

The stone that the large statue of Charlottean Hugh McManaway sits on was pushed four feet.
