CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was in court Tuesday, accused of hitting and killing a 6-year-old boy in east Charlotte.
Juan Antonio Quintanilla-Garza turned himself in to police in Texas near the Mexican border.
Channel 9 learned he arrived at the Mecklenburg County Jail on Monday.
Police said Garza hit Anthony Castellon-Rivera on Eastway Drive last month.
Quintanilla-Garza showed no emotion in court Tuesday as he spoke to a judge with help of a translator.
Quintanilla-Garza's attorney, Timothy Smith, said his client was "shaken to the core," but Smith said he hasn't had a chance to speak one-on-one yet with Quintanilla-Garza.
Garza faces felony hit-and-run charges. His bond stays at $250,000.
