CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man is accused of sexually assaulting two young girls Sunday night near a park in Charlotte’s Elizabeth neighborhood.
A witness called police and told officers he saw a man sexually assaulting the girls in the 1400 block of Armory Drive, which is next to Independence Park.
The man was identified as 43-year-old Ivan Dawkins.
Detectives determined that Dawkins was the caregiver of the girls, who are ages 7 and 9 years old.
Dawkins is charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a child and statutory sex offense with a child.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
