Man accused of sex offense with a child, held on $3M bond

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A man is being held under a $3 million secured bond after police said he took indecent liberties with a child.

Brunswick County Sheriff's Office contacted Troutman police about Bobby Lee Barton in Brunswick County. Barton lived in Troutman for about seven years.

During the course of the investigation, Barton was charged with seven counts of first-degree sex offense, four counts of statutory rape, seven counts of crimes against nature and seven counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Barton is being held in Iredell County jail. Officials said more charges are likely to develop.
