Man airlifted to hospital after Fort Mill construction site accident

FORT MILL, S.C. — A man from Granite Quarry was injured during a construction accident in York County Tuesday afternoon.

The 34-year-old man was reportedly standing beside an excavator, dealing with a maintenance issue, when the operator of the excavator began moving the vehicle, and the victim became pinned beneath the vehicle's track, Fort Mill and York County authorities said.

The victim works for Mills & Rea Contracting Inc., out of Pineville.

He was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

His medical condition was not released.
