CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Police arrested a man in connection to an armed robbery in the University area of Charlotte.
Tony Lamar Carthran, 18, was arrested Wednesday after police said a woman was robbed Tuesday in the 6500 block of Quarterbridge Lane. The woman said she was just arriving at home, and pulled into her garage when two men entered the garage and confronted her.
One of the robbers brandished a handgun and demanded money, according to police. The woman's phone and other items were taken from her vehicle.
Police said one of the men was identified as Carthran. When officers went to arrest him, they said he threw a plastic bag containing marijuana. Carthan was arrested on possession charges and then searched. Police said they found the stolen property on Carthran.
Carthran was also wearing an electronic monitoring device, which placed him at the scene of the robbery, according to police.
Carthran has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony breaking and entering and possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana.
