CMPD charge man in south Charlotte murder

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old with the murder of a man in south Charlotte earlier this month.

Michael Zelaya has been charged with murdering Noel Hernandez.

Channel 9 obtained surveillance video of Hernandez getting on his bike the night he died on Old Pineville Road.

Police have not released any information about a motive in the killing.

Zelaya is in the Mecklenberg County jail.

Officers also arrested Christian Pena in connection to the murder the day after the shooting. They said he was an accessory after the fact.
