A man was charged with killing a miniature Chihuahua by throwing it against the wall after assaulting a woman in Union County, deputies said.
Justin Lamar Richardson, 24, was upset with the woman, because she was supposed to drive him to a bank, and she was not moving fast enough, the victim recounted to authorities.
Richardson allegedly became upset, picked up the dog from the sofa and threw it against a wall.
Richardson then allegedly began assaulting the victim with a plastic trash can. Richardson left the residence prior to the deputy's arrival but was arrested later in the day.
Richardson faces charges of felony cruelty to animals, assault on a female and communicating threats.
He was released from the Union County Jail earlier this week and is due in court on May 31.
