GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A man was charged in the death of a Gaston County social worker, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Office.

Zelda D. Kollock, 51, worked in Gaston County as a supervisor in adult services since September 2012. Police said her estranged boyfriend John Washington, 58, was charged in her death.

Kollock was found fatally shot at her home in Columbia, S.C., according to the Sheriff's Office.

Washington faces a murder charge. He remains in custody at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Columbia without bond.
