MADSION COUNTY, N.C. - A North Carolina man is accused of killing his wife and elderly mother-in-law while their children barricaded themselves in the basement.
Deputies said James Lagrua shot his wife, Stephanie Lagrua, and her mother Friday night in Madison County.
Stephanie's daughter and her two children hid in the basement and called 911.
Deputies found the bodies in the kitchen and a bedroom.
Deputies said they had no record of domestic violence at the home.
Lagrua is charged with two counts of murder and with cruelty to animals because deputies said he killed the family pet.
