Man dies in weather-related crash on I-85

BELMONT, N.C. — A man died after a weather-related wreck on Interstate 85 in Belmont Friday morning.

Police said Gilbert Carmona, 28, slowed down on the interstate due to weather-related traffic conditions when he was rear-ended by a tractor trailer around 9:30 a.m.

The accident occurred I-85 north near the exit 27 off ramp.

Police are still investigating the crash and not yet said if any charges will be filed.
