Man exposes himself to teens on Greenway

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A popular exercise trail turned into a nightmare for two teenage girls when they said a naked man fondled himself in front of them as they walked along the Charlotte Greenway near Johnson Road Tuesday.

The woman who called 911 told Eyewitness News that two teenage girls were exercising near the Johnson Road entrance, when the man, wearing nothing but a pair of sunglasses, fondled himself.

The girls ran away in disbelief. They said dozens of young children were nearby.

"I don't want to walk around knowing that there's someone walking around like that," said Laura Rosario, who walks the trail regularly.

The incident is one of several that have taken place recently in Charlotte.

The most recent were in early August and July. Women reported a man flashing them outside of the South Park YMCA on Quail Hollow Road. That man was never arrested.

There was also a flasher who targeted women while riding a bicycle on the Greenway earlier this year. A suspect was arrested in that case.

Wednesday police said it was too early to know if this case was connected to other recent incidents.

The man in the most recent Harris YMCA incident was described as being a fit white male in his 30s. He wore a dark hat covering his face.

The man on the Charlotte Greenway was also a white male. Witnesses said he looked to be about 25 years old. They said he is 5 feet 11 inches and 180 pounds.
