CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating what led to a shooting in west Charlotte overnight.
The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. on the Brookshire Freeway, near Beatties Ford Road.

Investigators told Channel 9 that people inside separate cars were shooting at each other and that the man who was shot was inside one of those vehicles.
He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers had to block a portion of the Brookshire while they gathered evidence.
Detectives have not released any names and are still working to figure out why the shots were fired.
No arrests have been made.
