Man linked to Cleveland County death no longer faces charges

CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. — A man linked to a Cleveland County man's death is no longer facing murder charges.

Prosecutors now said evidence points to self-defense.

Earlier this month, officers found Kevin Lee Cole dead at Matthew Moore's home on Mooresboro Road, but they believe Cole pulled a gun on Moore and shot at him.

Investigators now said there was a struggle over the gun and then Moore fatally shot Cole.
