CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A Charlotte man could spend more than 11 years in prison for trying to commit suicide on Interstate 77, while holding his 2-year-old daughter.
Derrick Summers pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted first degree murder.
In January, Summers parked his car on I-77, picked up his daughter and ran into traffic.
The child’s mother told Eyewitness News on Wednesday that the little girl is recovering from her injuries and doing better.
