Police arrest man after fatal shooting near Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. — One person was shot and killed in a neighborhood near Davidson, according to Tim Putt, the victim’s brother.

Putt did not know what happened, but said his brother, Eddie Putt, was shot and “didn’t make it.” The family found out at the hospital.

“Then I watched my 75-year-old mother just fall apart because my brother has been doing so good for the last few years,” Putt said.

Alan Reid Pressley, 50, was arrested after the shooting.

Pressley was charged with voluntary manslaughter and carrying a concealed gun. He is being held under a $250,000 bond.

His first court date is set for Dec. 27.

Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office stated in a release that alcohol was involved.

Bucky Miller, a neighbor, said his 6-year-old son was playing inside the home when it happened. He said the shooting happened outside the home.

“He was in the house playing video games,” Miller said.

Miller said he heard three shots then raced to his neighbor’s home.

“I was nervous and just ran down there as fast as I could,” Miller said.

Miller’s son told him that he didn’t see or hear anything.

Putt said his brother was just getting his life together. He added with the holidays so near, it was going to be a really tough Christmas.

“It’s definitely going to put a damper on every Christmas here on out,” Putt said.

Cabarrus County Sheriff’s deputies continue to investigate the shooting.
