Man says stranger gave him unwanted massage at Charlotte's airport

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man flying through Charlotte Douglas International Airport claims a stranger gave him an unwanted massage and then handed him a thank-you note and $10.

The Florida man told officers he was at the airport Dec. 28 when the man started rubbing his shoulders without his consent.

When the man was done, he handed the victim a "derogatory" note, in which he thanked the victim
for the unwanted touching.

Authorities identified the man as 34-year-old Sherwin Shayegan, who is accused of doing the same thing to a 14-year-old boy at the Newark, New Jersey, airport on Dec. 29.

Shayegan was arrested at a nearby Newark hotel.

Police discovered other disturbing notes and money with the names of various airports written on them.

"I don't know; that's off-the-chart strange," traveler William Humphries said. “It would freak me out."

Shayegan's shenanigans didn't end there.

He dressed up in a high school basketball uniform and reportedly hung out in gyms and arenas, officials said.

At those venues, he tried to get players to give him piggyback rides, officials said.

He was dubbed the "Piggyback Bandit.”

High school athletic associations in North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Washington and Oregon have banned him from their games.

They consider him to be more than a weird nuisance. He's considered a threat.

Shayegan was charged with simple assault in Charlotte.
