4 arrested after man shot, killed outside Monroe motel, police say

MONROE, N.C. — A man died after he was shot in the chest Tuesday night outside a motel, Monroe police said.

On Thursday, police said they arrested four people in connection to the slaying.

The shooting happened at the Relax Inn at 611 W. Roosevelt Blvd.

Danny McGriff Jr., 39, of Lancaster, S.C., was found dead on the walkway just before 11:30 p.m., police said.

Police said the motive was robbery.

Union County Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of up to $5,000 that leads to the arrest of those involved in the case.

Officials from the State Bureau of Investigation and the Union County District Attorney’s Office are assisting.
