Man suspected of stealing 3 firearms arrested

MT. PLEASANT — According to the Stanly County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to investigate the larceny of three firearms and a rifle scope on April 22.

After taking information, they charged Michael Dean Smart Jr with one count of misdemeanor larceny, three counts of felony larceny and four counts of obtaining properties by false pretenses.

Smart Jr was arrested on April 25, and placed in the Stanly County Jail on a $5,000 secured bond.

His initial court date will be on May 5 in Albemarle District Court.
