Meck Co. sheriff's deputy OK after west Charlotte crash

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An accident involving a Mecklenburg County Sheriff's deputy slowed traffic on Billy Graham Parkway and West Blvd. for part of the afternoon Wednesday.

Officials said the deputy was headed east on Billy Graham when he got into an accident with a van headed north on West Blvd.

The impact of the crash tore the bumper off the cruiser. The airbags deployed and the front end of the cruiser was smashed.

The deputy was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department investigators have not yet determined what led up to the crash and no charges have been filed at this time.
