Mecklenburg County residents praise funding for parks, greenways

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Residents are praising Mecklenburg County commissioners for funding 13 new park and greenway projects.

The projects include an 87-acre park in Mint Hill on Well Road.

Also, there will be a new park near Highland Creek off Eastfield Drive and an expansion of Druid Hills Park in west Charlotte.

Residents said they are thankful the county funded parks instead of a soccer stadium.

“That is amazing,” resident Natalya Stanley said. “There are not too many places that care about where their children play anymore.”

The new projects also include expansions of several greenways including Mallard Creek and Sugar Creek greenways.
