Mint Hill former fire chief pleads guilty to embezzling more than $225K

MINT HILL, N.C. — Mint Hill's former fire chief pleaded guilty to embezzlement Monday morning.

Jeremy Russell admitted to embezzling more than $225,000.

Investigators said he used the money to support a gambling habit.

The judge set a pre-trial hearing for Russell, but didn't set a sentencing hearing.

Russell could face up to 10 years in prison.
