MUG SHOTS: Several arrested in Rowan County drug sweep

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office conducted a summer sweep of drug suspects from a series of operations.

This sweep, Operation: Summer Heat, targeted suspects who have been involved in crimes ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies, including trafficking of opium and heroin and possession of a firearm by a felon.

There have been 14 people arrested since mid-May, and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the arrest of seven additional suspects.

ARRESTED:

Aaron Lee Brown, 28, of China Grove

  • Possession of firearm by felon
  • Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia

Vanessa Marie Clemons, 30, of Salisbury

  • Sell/deliver a counterfeit controlled substance 

 Lee Thomas Ellis, 66, of Salisbury

  • Possess with intent to sell/deliver a Schedule II controlled substance
  • Felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances
  • Trafficking opium by possession
