Company to invest $565M, create 1,500 jobs in Chester Co.

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — Officials in Chester County have confirmed a major economic development.

During Monday night's council meeting they announced a manufacturing company is investing $565 million in the county and bringing 1,500 jobs.

Officials are calling it "Project Summer" and it is the largest, single economic announcement ever for the county. County leaders expect to unveil the company in July.

"These are going to be good paying jobs.  It's going to mean that Chester County is going to explode, as far as population,” said county supervisor Carlisle Roddey.

The name of the company is not public yet, but officials said they expect to unveil the company by July. They also expect it will bring a lot of spinoff businesses to create even more jobs in the area.
