CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have closed an intersection just northeast of uptown Monday morning after a large truck ran into the bridge near the intersection.
Police had North Tryon Street closed at 16th Street just after 9 a.m. in both directions after officers said the truck struck the bottom of a bridge above the road.
Police said the integrity of the bridge will have to be checked by experts to ensure it is safe and the road will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.
Investigators are still trying figure out how the accident happened.
