NC lottery winner will continue to flip burgers

GREENSBORO, N.C. — (AP) After more than 40 years of running a restaurant, a Greensboro man says he's staying at the grill even though he won a prize in N.C. Education Lottery.

Lottery officials announced Ralph Havis purchased a Golden 7's ticket for $5, about what it costs to get a hamburger and french fries at the local Beef Burger. After he scratched it off, he'd won $150,000, and he said when he saw he'd won, he felt dizzy.

When state and federal taxes were withheld, Havis received a check for $103,801. He said some people talk about the fun things they would do if they won the lottery, but Havis said his fun is selling hamburgers. He also said he would save his winnings for the future.
