NC opponents of same-sex marriage mark anniversary

RALEIGH, N.C. — (AP) Supporters of the amendment which banned same-sex marriage in North Carolina are holding a rally to mark the second anniversary of its passage.

The rally is scheduled for Thursday at the State Capitol in Raleigh.

The Rally for Marriage is also taking aim at recent efforts to overturn the ban Last month, a coalition of clergy members filed a federal lawsuit challenging North Carolina's constitutional ban on gay marriage, saying it violated their religious freedom.

The North Carolina Values Coalition is sponsoring the event.
