CHARLOTTE, N.C. — More than 2,400 Duke Energy customers in northwest Charlotte were left in the dark early Tuesday morning after officials said a tree branch fell and knocked out power to the area.
The branch fell on power lines just before 3 a.m. on Freedom Drive, near Elmwood Circle.

One lane of Freedom Drive was blocked as crews worked on repairs, but traffic was still able to get through.
Duke Energy told Channel 9 that they were able to restore power to the surrounding neighborhoods by 6:20 a.m.
