Neighbors: Dangerous dogs attacking family pets in Mount Holly

Several families in a Mount Holly neighborhood are scared and demanding a response from the city after several complaints have been made about dangerous dogs.
Three families in a neighborhood off East Catawba Drive said their animals have been attacked within the last month. They said they’re scared of letting their children and animals outside.
Tabitha Teague said two black German Shepherds attacked and killed her dog, Angel, on Thursday night.
“Two large dogs come across and of course she starts barking and they attack her,” Teague said. “She bled out from the stomach where they tore her to pieces.”
Teague called Animal Control.
Channel 9 learned Animal Control has responded to the neighborhood for two other attacks this year but there are no witnesses. A neighbor’s cat was killed in May and resident Jaime Brown said his dog, Toby, disappeared earlier in June. Toby was found dead outside of Brown’s fence.
“He had been attacked,” Brown said.
Neighbors have recorded video of the dogs roaming. Animal Control confirmed it has received two other calls about leash violations for dogs matching the descriptions.
Channel 9 went to the owner’s home and no one answered.
Animal Control said it’s investigating to determine whether the dogs should be deemed dangerous, but collecting interviews can take at least a few days.
“In the meantime, what do we do as a community? Do we stay in our house?” Teague asked. “I’m just very fearful that it’s going to be a human next.”
Teague said she plans to take civil action over her dog’s death. She’s also hoping Animal Control will hold the owners accountable.
