CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte City Council will meet Monday to vote on new rules for cab drivers.
They will be looking to loosen restrictions so companies can compete with services like Uber and Lyft, who are not regulated by the city.
The new rules would revise the passenger vehicle for hire ordinance. Among the changes, drivers would submit a fingerprint check every three years, instead of once when they apply for an initial permit.
Taxi companies would also train their drivers, not the city, and drivers would only have to take drug tests every three years, instead of annually.
Count on Channel 9 to update you on the vote and tune into Eyewitness News at 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. for a full report.
