Nonprofit helps with repairs for homeowners who can't afford it

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A group helped Charlotte homeowner Beaulah Mobley with much-needed maintenance and repairs.

Mobley could not afford to have mold removed, or to heat her home, for years until the nonprofit, Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte, stepped in to assist her.

Her insurance company denied her claims for the repairs to the place she has called home for more than 20 years.

Over the summer, Rebuilding Together executive director Beth Morrison visited Mobley.

“I went around to talk to neighbors to figure out who needed help, and she was the perfect candidate,” Morrison said.

The organization takes a community approach by repairing homes in one neighborhood before moving on to another area.

They're trying to help homeowners like Mobley stay in their homes and be proud of it.

“To hear Mrs. Mobley talk about what this has done for her,  I know what it's going to do for her,” Morrison said.
