Officers find man shot to death inside car in west Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Neighbors in a southwest Charlotte community want answers after a second murder there in a week.

The victim’s family sobbed and held each other after learning their loved one Deon Davis was found shot and killed near a West Boulevard apartment complex early Saturday.

Around 2 a.m. police responded to a 911 call and found the 33-year-old shot in a car.

He died and a woman walked up to police saying she was also inside the car and had been shot in the hand.

Last Saturday, Gregory Brown was shot just a few blocks away inside a grocery store.

He died Thursday. The suspect in that case, Joshua Welch, was recently caught in West Virginia.

“I've been here 10 years and I've never had nothing like this to happen,” said Mary Cunningham.

Anyone with information is asked to call 704-432-TIPS or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
