Officers take Kannapolis kids shopping for Christmas

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — The Kannapolis Police Department has joined together with some of its community partners in sponsoring more than 20 children to help them have a wonderful Christmas.

The children met with the police Saturday at the rear entrance of Kannapolis Middle School, 1445 Oakwood Ave. They were paired with police officers and other agency employees.

Officers drove the kids to Target of Kannapolis, where they were able to shop for Christmas gifts with the help of an officer.

Each child had $250 to purchase clothing and toys.

Last year was the first year Kannapolis Police Department held Cops Target Kids, and officers said they were amazed that many of the children wanted to buy gifts for not only for themselves, but also for their parents, and brothers and sisters.
