CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials at Charlotte Douglas International Airport told Channel 9 they are remaining vigilant following the attacks in Istanbul Tuesday.
The airport does not offer flights to Istanbul, but Eyewitness News spoke with travelers who said the attack is yet another reminder as to how vigilant everyone must be.
On Tuesday, officials lifted the suspension on flights from the United States to Istanbul, but the warning to avoid the area remains in place.
Flights have resumed at the Ataturk Airport and officials at Charlotte Douglas said they're in constant contact with federal security partners, including the Department of Homeland Security.
Added security may be more visible in the days ahead, and travelers said they would welcome that precaution.
"We've still got to live our lives,” said Wanda Brown. “We still have to keep going. If it's something I have to do. A lot of people here just have to do it."
Travelers are being asked to remain vigilant and if you see something, say something.
