Officials say flu season is off to early start

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Health officials want to make sure you're vaccinated for the flu.

Officials said flu season is off to an early start and suspected cases in some southern states have jumped. They said the strain going around tends to make people sicker -- especially the elderly.

Health officials said more than a third of Americans have been vaccinated this year.

Two people in North Carolina have died from the illness. They were both in Forsyth County. One person died in Barnwell County, S.C.
