MINT HILL, N.C. — A single-car collision on Highway 218 sent one person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Sarah Burkhalter, 18, of Mint Hill, was trapped inside of her Ford truck after she ran off the roadway and slammed into a large tree.
Although Burkhalter was trapped she was conscious. Mint Hill Volunteer firefighters were able to free the driver and she was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center Main.
The crash is still under investigation, but Mint Hill police say speed was a factor.
