One arrested following standoff linked to carjacking

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man is in custody after a standoff that lasted for more than an hour in west Charlotte.

Officers were looking for someone who ran from a car linked to a carjacking, police said.

Kievon Ratchford, 17,  was arrested at a home on Augusta Street.

Channel 9 was at the scene as police had guns drawn.

Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on I-85, but the driver refused to stop, police said. Officers didn't engage in a pursuit, but they determined the driver was Ratchford and located him on Augusta Street.

Police said the car was stolen at gunpoint on Dec. 2 at the Queens Mini Mart Store on Beatties Ford Road.
