One lane on North Tryon closed for drain repair

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Transportation have temporarily closed one northbound lane around the 2100 block of North Tryon Street near West 24th Street in Charlotte to repair a damaged drainage structure.

A catch basin on the outside lane at this location is damaged and missing its grate.

The catch basin is within vehicles' wheel lines, so NCDOT crews are closing the lane for roughly 200 feet to allow for motorists' safe travel and for crews to make the necessary repairs.

Due to the extent of the repairs, the lane is expected to remain closed until the evening rush hour on Tuesday.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution and slow down when traveling through the area.
