Man shot while breaking into uptown Charlotte home dies

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man who was shot after he was armed while breaking into a home in uptown Charlotte died at the hospital Saturday morning.

Police said 37-year-old Wayne Carrothers was shot by the homeowner on Greenleaf Avenue on June 15.

Officials had received a felony breaking and entering warrant on Carrothers.

Officials said the homeowner has not been charged with any crimes.

Police are still investigating.
