CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The rain did not stop Saturday's Martin Luther King Junior Holiday Parade, as thousands attended in uptown Charlotte.
More than 100 community groups, bands and dance teams marched down North Tryon Street to celebrate the man who changed our nation's history.
Saturday afternoon, the United Way celebrated Dr. King's legacy through service.
They had volunteers at events across Mecklenburg County.
They were at Blythe Elementary, East Meck High, Marie Davis K Through 8 School, and Renaissance West STEAM Academy.
The United Way expected 1,500 people to take part.
